There is only about 20 people in the Interaction Design 101 session at Usability Week 2009. Altgough I did not attend this session in 2007, I know that hundereds of people attended. It was held in an enourmous auditorum.
I think there are are more people in the Web Usability Camp, but not as many as in 2007 when I took it. I guess that I really should not be surprised. One thing is for sure the energy is not quite the same, but many be quality is better?
Day One
Anyway, so fare it has been very interesting to learn about interaction design through a number of case studies. Seems like common sense? Some of the case studies seems a little dated, hence two-way project team radios was a big breakthrough in on case study.
Has anyone heard of “Yammer” – the “new” two-way, actually as many way as you want communications tool. I do remember some people in 2007 thought that the sessions were a little dated as well. Anyway, I guess the methodology has not change that much.
Have to say “tog” has worked some pretty interesting places, and have a lot of experience helping companies fixing their products.
Is selling information a good thing? I am just asking?
One thing I find curious is that they charge a very high fee for their studies, guides and materials. It must be part of their business strategy? I am not sure selling information and guides in an age of sharing and collaborating is an effictive appoarch.
Although that being said, I am interested in reading one or two of them. And might buy them…so, maybe it works after all. If I do buy one, I will do my own little study to see if I can obtain the same information searching the web.
Lunch is about over, and now we will be developing and designing our own product. I will let you know how it goes.
